How Stored Data Supports Vehicle Key Security
A vehicle's modules hold information used to recognise authorised keys.
On some systems, key-related information is stored in EEPROM or other module memory. Specialist access can support replacement-key work where the standard diagnostic method is not suitable. The storage type and procedure differ by platform; EEPROM is not a universal solution for every encrypted system.
The Difference Between OBD and EEPROM Access
Diagnostic programming communicates through the vehicle's socket; module-level work accesses stored data more directly.
Supported OBD procedures can authorise a new key without module removal. Other systems may need bench or in-circuit work using specialist equipment. We select the appropriate supported procedure rather than assuming every high-security vehicle requires disassembly.
Which Vehicles Need Specialist Access?
The exact model, variant, year and security platform determine the requirement.
BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen Group vehicles include different security architectures across their ranges. Brand or age alone does not establish the programming method, and some platforms still require dealer involvement. We confirm suitability before booking.
