A Cut Key Is Not Always a Working Spare
Most modern vehicles require an authorised transponder as well as the correct blade.
A cut-only blade may operate a mechanical lock without starting the engine. The immobiliser needs to recognise the transponder or smart key before it will authorise starting. Cutting and programming work together to produce a usable spare for the supported functions of the vehicle.
Pairing the Spare to the Immobiliser
The new key must be accepted by the vehicle’s security system.
Many vehicles use diagnostic-port programming, while others involve a dedicated control module. BCM, BSI, CAS and FEM-based systems use different methods across models and generations. We check the exact make, model and year before confirming how the spare will be added.
